EDITORIAL COMMENT FROM PAUL HEANEY: Over the years I have witnessed many discussions relative to the addition of ethanol to gasoline. I have seen the implementation of the 10% ethanol “E10” requirement mandate. Now I am reading the discussions about the transition from 10% ethanol content to 15%. I have previously stated that it is very dangerous to gradually increase ethanol content in gasoline because it is impossible to predict how much is too much. It is foolhardy to just simply increase the ethanol content until we, the American public, experience fuel system failures. The economic cost of fuel system failures in a class of ethanol/gasoline fueled products would be disastrous, especially to the manufacturers. Well, now the tip of the iceberg has become visible. Manufacturers of gasoline fueled yard tools have expressed concern about the gradual increase in ethanol content of fuel for their older products. I sincerely hope that good science will prevent a larger problem associated with any increase in the ethanol content of gasoline greater than the current 10%.

History and Background:
The ELECTRIC GRAND PRIX CORP. (EGP) is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) not for profit organization dedicated to the support and stimulation of the technical innovation required to develop electric vehicle technology and all other form of alternate fueled vehicle technology to a practical level, maintenance of this web site, providing presentations and demonstrations, helping to find answers to inquiries, helping others with grant requests and support for the U. S. Dept. of Energy's Clean Cities program. (EGP founded the Genesee Region Clean Communities coalition in Rochester, New York, and supported the position of Regional Coordinator for approximately 15 years.)
Until the year 2006 we have operated the Electric Cobra (pictured on this page) at numerous events and presentations. It has been viewed by actually hundreds of thousands of individuals. It has also appeared on several television programs such as NEWTON'S APPLE. It has also appeared on news programs and been included in segments appearing on the Rochester Public Television channel, WXXI.
Donations to help support the efforts of the Electric Grand Prix Corp. are tax deductible. And, if desired, donors will be recognized on this web site.
